Vikas Agro Service

A 35-year-old pump and farm-equipment dealer in Kanhangad ran on paper invoices and word of mouth. We built the systems to carry it into its next decade — a GST-ready billing ERP, a website that works as a sales channel, and a visual identity that matches its standing in the market.

The Problem

Three decades of goodwill, running on paper and memory.

Since 1990, Vikas Agro Service had built something rare — a name that farmers and contractors across Kasaragod district trusted without question. But the business was running the same way it had in its first year: handwritten invoices, stock counted by memory, and every enquiry arriving through a phone call or a WhatsApp message.

Two problems had grown past the point of ignoring:

  • GST compliance was manual and error-prone. Every invoice that needed a GST breakdown meant looking up rates by hand, in a catalogue that had grown to 3,000+ products across 30 brands.
  • The business was invisible online. Farmers searched for "pump dealers in Kanhangad" on their phones and found competitors. Vikas Agro had no digital presence at all — no website, no product listings, no way to answer the question "what do you stock?" without a phone call.

The owners knew their business inside out. What they needed was a way to translate that knowledge into systems their staff could use, without needing a computer science degree.

Part One — Billing ERP

An ERP that thinks in brands, not ledgers.

Most accounting software assumes the user thinks in double-entry terms. Vikas Agro doesn't. They think in Crompton pumps, Lubi motors, ASPEE sprayers — and which supplier had what in stock when.

We built the ERP around that reality.

GST-Compliant Invoicing

Every product carries its HSN code and GST rate in the database. Billing happens once — the tax breakdown, the invoice number, and the A4/thermal print output all follow automatically. No manual lookups, no rate errors.

Product & Brand Catalogue

3,000+ SKUs organised by brand, category, and specification. Staff search by brand name or product type — not by a SKU code they'd have to memorise.

Customer & Supplier Records

Every farmer, contractor, and industrial buyer has a history. The next time they walk in, their past purchases and pricing are one search away.

Stock Visibility

Live view of what's on the floor and what's in the godown. Reorder alerts when stock crosses a threshold — so a pump is ordered before it runs out, not after a customer asks.

GST Reports & Tax Summary

GSTR-1-ready reports, HSN-wise summaries, and composition tax exports. The accountant gets clean data instead of a shoebox of invoices.

Runs in a Browser

No installation, no server room, no IT maintenance. The ERP opens in Chrome on the counter PC and on the owner's phone when they're away. Same interface, same data.

Part Two — Website

A sales channel, not a brochure.

Most dealer websites are static catalogues — a list of products with a "Contact Us" form nobody fills in. We built the opposite: a site that answers the questions farmers actually search for, and gives them a reason to visit the shop.

Answer-first content

Pages like "Lubi vs Crompton pumps — which is right for your farm?" and "Choosing the right brush cutter for Kerala terrain" are written to match real search queries. They answer the question, and only then point to the product. Visitors arrive from Google with a specific problem, and leave knowing Vikas Agro has the answer.

Government subsidy guidance

A dedicated section explains PMKSY-PDMC, SMAM, and PMFBY subsidy schemes — what they cover, who qualifies, and what paperwork is needed. This is information farmers need but rarely find in one place. The site becomes a resource, not just a storefront.

Product catalogue by category

Pumps, motors, sprayers, irrigation systems, farm machinery, piping — organised the way a farmer thinks, not the way a distributor's back office is structured. Each product page carries brand, specification, and a "visit us for a demo" prompt.

Mobile-first throughout

Over 80% of visitors arrive from a phone — usually while standing in a field or on a shop floor. Every page is built to load fast on a patchy rural connection, and every tap target is sized for a thumb.

Part Three — Branding

Three decades of trust, finally visible.

A business that's been trusted by 17,000 customers since 1990 shouldn't look like a shop that opened last year. We refreshed the visual identity to match the standing the business already had.

Authorised dealer positioning

Lubi and Crompton authorisations are strong signals of legitimacy. We made them central to the brand language — featured on the website homepage, in shop signage, and on every quote sheet.

Visual consistency

A unified colour palette, typography, and layout across website, invoices, signage, and social media. The business now looks the same everywhere a customer encounters it — which builds recognition across the district.

In-shop materials

Product category signage, subsidy scheme explainers for the counter, and a "brands we carry" display wall. The physical shop now matches the digital presence, so customers arrive expecting the same experience either way.

What Changed

Measured, not promised.

60%

Reduction in daily billing time — from a full evening to under an hour

3mo

From kickoff to full rollout — ERP, website, and branding delivered together

0

Paper registers since launch — and zero GST filing errors

The website now ranks for searches like "pump dealers in Kanhangad" and "Lubi pumps Kasaragod" — bringing enquiries that used to go to competitors by default. The ERP runs the counter operations. The brand holds it all together. None of the three would have worked as well alone.

They asked smarter questions for our ERP. The invoicing system they delivered cut our billing time in half.
